FENIX - A Unique Material for Furniture Facades

FENIX - A Unique Material for Furniture Facades

FENIX are innovative Italian materials created by Arpa Industriale for use in various vertical and horizontal structures in interior design. The first Fenix product was created in 2013 and has already been tested by customers around the world. It is produced in two factories: in Canada and Italy. The manufacturer uses modern technologies, taking care of the environment.

Thanks to its low light reflectivity, the FENIX surface has a maximum degree of opacity, tactile softness, and is protected against fingerprints. Additionally, it is possible to thermally repair superficial scratches.

Manufacturing Process

FENIX products are super-matte, durable materials made on a paper base (over 60%) and with thermosetting resins (30-40%). FENIX production is obtained through a pressing process, during which heat and pressure are applied simultaneously to create a homogeneous, non-porous product. Overall, the process and composition of the material are similar to HPL plates from other brands, which we often use for countertops in our projects. However, the external surface of FENIX is absolutely unique: it is made by applying a multilayer coating and is characterized by the use of new-generation acrylic resins, hardened and fixed in an electron stream.

FENIX has high scratch resistance thanks to nanoparticles. After processing, the nanoparticles are fully integrated and fixed in the FENIX surface layer. It is an ecological and safe material, suitable for contact with food products (NSF certified).

Application of FENIX in Furniture Manufacturing

We most often use it for kitchen facades, living rooms, cabinets, and bathroom low cabinets. Clients appreciate FENIX for its exceptionally matte surface, ease of maintenance, and pleasant tactile sensations. It is worth mentioning that the material palette is quite limited - 20 colors, which are developed considering modern interior trends.

Care and Surface Restoration Possibility

If you look at FENIX products under a microscope, you can notice a structure that gives the surface a matte appearance.

Cleaning matte surfaces means cleaning their structure. You can use ordinary household cleaning agents (except abrasive ones). An important step is regular rinsing with water. The video below will help you understand the basic rules and prohibitions to follow:

A few words about the possibility of restoring your surface (presumably, the name “FENIX” comes from the mythical bird that possessed such abilities). Using an iron and a damp towel/fabric on the relevant area of the product, you can “thermally heal” (if the scratches have not penetrated inside the surface). More detailed information about this can be found in the FENIX Care and Cleaning Instructions.
